Third album from this sympathetic German heavy rock 'n' roll band, which is pretty much a continuation of their previous album, "Little Monsters" (Rockphone Records, 2007). Remarkable about this 8-piece band is their never ceasing enthusiasm and the fact that they stick to their own brand of rock 'n' roll, whatever happens around them. Recorded at various studios between March 2008 and June 2009, co-produced by Stefan Aurel (guitarist of the band) & "our" well-known Dennis Ward and now (finally) released by AFM Records, "All In" features some attractive tunes, such as the rock 'n' roll opener "Mine All Mine", the nice ballad "Feels Like Home", the Status Quo-like "Shy Shy Shy" (in which Jφrg Wesenberg and Melanie Black share the lead vox), the Victory cover "Checks In The Mail" (again with Melanie Black in a leading role) and the Blondie cover "Call Me" (this time with Ela on lead vox). Best track - for me - is the closing one, "Ocean", in which all band members showcase their talent. Nothing pompous here - just another good feel record from this German band. Enjoy!

Kickhunter is formed around six rockers from Hamburg, with the best known member being Markus Grosskopf from Helloween. Hearts & Bones is a step back in time to the good old hard rock days and Kickhunter is reminiscent of early Van Halen, Deep Purple, Bonfire, Red Fun, Rose Tattoo, and Cinderella (especially "Heartbreak Station", with female backing vocals). Be prepared for a musical attack of stinging guitars, a heavy bass, and a genuine Hammond organ.
This is their debut, released in a digi from Rude Records in Germany. The indie label, Rockphone, in 2008 reissued this album in conjunction with their second release "Little Monsters". German label AFM Records has announced the signing of Kickhunter for their upcoming third release "All In". Dennis Ward and company are currently mixing the tracks for its release, due July 23.

“Rainmaker” is the first and only released from studio project of Tommy Denander , Geir Roenning and Tony Franklin. “Rainmaker “ is a solid Melodic hard rock album with amazing bass themes , excellent vocals and great guitar themes . In the vein of Giant, Prisoner and Talk of the Town.

Swedish indie, sleazy longhaired hard rock in an early Motley Crue meets the Backstreet Girls style. Hard rockin' songs with both harmonies and gang-style backup vocals. Good stuff! Apparently, this is a fairly rare CD.

Just because you’re a fan of KING DIAMOND/MERCYFUL FATE does not mean that you also have to know the past of the guys. Our big chief surely had only the best in mind when he sent the coming to terms with the past of the MERCYFUL FATE guys Hank Shermann and Michael Denner in form of the BRATS album my way.
In any way, the BRATS played simple straight Rock, at times with a light Punk feeling, then, as with „Heavy Rocker“ being heavily influenced by JUDAS PRIEST. Totally simple, without any unnecessary frills, but with a lot of charm, songs like the straight driving “Oy-905”, “Tame Me (Insomniac)”, which starts out balladesque and then rocks off right away, the completely unleashed “Punk Fashion”, the sluggish “Complex (Don’t Destroy Me)” that reminds me of very old MANILLA ROAD stuff (“Metal” or “Invasion”) or the deranged mid-tempo rocker “Zombie People” still set a good mood.
Fans of veeerrry old NWoBHM stuff can’t really do much wrong with the BRATS album.

Release : Russian Roulette
Year : 1997
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The second of two fine releases by this Swiss hard rock band, featuring two former members of The Foolhouse and the vocal talents of Jean-Marc Viller (credited with lead vocals on Rough Generation "Psycho Trippin'" (1990), Back Street "Euphoria And Depression" (1993), and two different Escape Music 2007 releases, Neverland "Schizophrenia" and Daydreamer "Daydreamer". Also to his credits are backing vocals on both Fun Gogh albums, the first two Shakra albums, Crystal Ball "Timewalker", Crown Of Glory "A Deep Breath Of Life", and a duet on the title track of Lunatica's "Fable Of Dreams" album).
This is typical Swiss melodic rock... good melodic songs with the required loud, proud, and in your face delivery. And, it is even sponsored by Budweiser so you know it will go down smooth. biggrin.gif Pretty hard to find nowadays. Recommended.

Recorded and Mixed at Iceland-Studios, Rödinghausen, Germany 1997

A German band formed in 1992, the style is Bon Scott-era AC/DC all the way. Although capturing the sound pretty well, this band seems to capture the "feel" of the Bon Scott era better than most. They do call themselves a Bon Scott tribute band, after all. Their music is all self-released with this being their first and, to date, only studio effort. It consists of five AC/DC covers, three original songs, and the Scottish folk song as covered by AC/DC back in the day. It was followed in 1999 by "Live And High Voltaged" featuring live songs including "Loch Limond" with bagpipes (not present on the studio CD) and one new song, and in 2002 by an EP of two new originals (one written for their local handball team) plus one live song, and again in 2002 with the 12-track album, "Unplugged" featuring live and acoustic songs with one new song.

Throughout my time as a devoted Southern rock enthusiast, I have had a plethora of albums spin their way through my turntables and CD players. (I won't even mention the 8-track player I got for my 5th birthday 'cause that will most definitely date me from way back!) Out of all the rock, blues, country, and jazz albums I've heard, there are always those albums that scream Southern Rock! From the feel of the music, the themes of the songs, even to the “look” of the cover, Southern rock leaves an unmistakable mark. The new CD from Preacher Stone is one of those albums.

These boys from North Carolina have taken the roots of Southern rock and brought into the modern era to give us one powerhouse CD. Ronnie Riddle, lead vocalist and lyricist, has the unique ability to tell a story with a sense of authenticity and credibility. With a voice that sounds soaked with attitude and Old No. 7, Ronnie shines on “Not Today”, “Old Fashioned Ass Whoopin' Sum Bitch”, “That's Just the Whiskey Talkin'”, and “Southern Hospitality.” The guitar work by Marty Hill and Benny Huntt is outstanding! Between the tasty dual leads and straight-ahead in your face leads, this dynamic duo rocks like Southern boys should.

Southern justice, kickin' ass, and drinkin' whiskey is just a slice of what this band is all about. When its time to get introspective, check out “Brother's Keeper” and “Blood from a Stone” for the impressive Hammond B-3 sounds from keyboardist Duke Rivers. The band slows it down to ask the age-old questions that have plagued man for ages.

Every song on this album has a hook and reason for being there. Nothing seems throw-away or rushed. This is an album you will listen to all the way through. The production of this album is outstanding and sounds more like something I would expect from a band signed to a major label. If this is just the beginning of Preacher Stone, I can't wait to hear what comes next! These guys are living proof that Southern rock is still alive and well.

Houston, Texas, based pomp rock band, who's origins go right back to 1969. Thats right 69, and having supported the likes of Supertramp, Kansas, Judas Priest, and releasing and album in 1975 ("Rough Mix"), I'm only getting to hear this fantastic band in 2008.
Better late than never, I guess.
In truth debut "Rough Mix" doesn't offer anything to the Aor fan, as its mostly Zep influenced hard rock, and progressive rock in its true sense.
However "Nights" is a different story. This album mixes the prog elements of Presto Ballet and Kansas, with the pomp and melody of Le Roux and say Sugarcreek, delivering a great album, accessible to aor and prog fans alike.

The Fools were Mike Gerard, Richie Bartlett, Stacy Pedrick, Chris Pedrick, and Doug Forman. The first album stands as a concise and well recorded musical statement by an important Boston group. Produced by Pete Solley, the band escaped the curse of New England groups suffering inferior recordings in major studios."Night Out" begins the album with a burst of three minute pop followed by "Fine With Me," "Don't Tell Me," and the title track, "Sold Out" -- all well-crafted pop songs with Beatles guitar lines and enough jangle to qualify them for underground pop rockers, somewhere between the radio friendliness of the Raspberries with the seriousness Badfinger brought to their work. For some strange reason, EMI-America put the song that established them in their hometown, a parody of the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer," entitled "Psycho Chicken," as a 45 rpm inside the album jacket, but not included on the 12" vinyl. Years later, "Sold Out" stands as a very respectable and very important debut album. Pete Solley's pedestrian production on the 1980 release "Sold Out" is almost indiscernible when compared to Vini Poncia's presentation of the band a year later for the "Heavy Mental" album. They deserved national recognition and could have entertained the masses had EMI kept working their discs beyond the second release, "Heavy Mental".

Info:

Southern rock quartet Thunder's eponymous debut is a slick, '70s AOR slab of semi-intelligent guitar-heavy rock & roll that sounds like the middle road between interstate Kansas and highway Bad Company. Reissued for the first time by the "CD only, re-issue label" Wounded Bird, this ten-track collection of radio-ready material isn't any better or worse than much of the mid-level, kind of "proggy" post-boogie rock of the era, and the production and playing is excellent throughout, but there is nothing here that hasn't already appeared on a Styx, Foghat or Little River Band record.
